Media: Gratitude & Special Thanks to Torture & Black Sites

Round Two in Bin Laden Death Publicity

cutThe media spent the first two days of Bin Laden’s Death hailing and saluting the greatness of the Obama presidency. Bit by bit the White House PR script writers fed them Tom Clancy inspired bylines, each new bit more glorified than the previous one. Hollywood must be working on movies as I’m typing this post. Do they have to get any specific rights for this particular manuscript? Or is it considered free for all public info? Anyhow, now we are entering Chapter Two, Set Two, or Stage Two. Time to shine the spotlight on the other players: CIA Special Forces and maybe a few private contractors collectively known as Secret Kidnapping Torturers. You see, according to ‘ANONYMOUS’ government and White House sources, we have those black sites, the torturers and the brutal torture tactics to thank for Bin Laden’s action and mystery filled death and disappearance (aka secret burial at sea).

Obama’s buddy, his unofficial press secretary and favorite fundraiser, and the new queen of the AOL PR machine, has just released the second chapter of the Clancy-like manuscript-Glory, Glory Hallelujah, the Black Site Torturers Keep Marching on[emphasis are mine]:

In a secret CIA prison in Eastern Europe years ago, al-Qaida's No. 3 leader, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, gave authorities the nicknames of several of bin Laden's couriers, four former U.S. intelligence officials said. Those names were among thousands of leads the CIA was pursuing.

One man became a particular interest for the agency when another detainee, Abu Faraj al-Libi, told interrogators that when he was promoted to succeed Mohammed as al-Qaida's operational leader he received the word through a courier. Only bin Laden would have given al-Libi that promotion, CIA officials believed.

The revelation that intelligence gleaned from the CIA's so-called black sites helped kill bin Laden was seen as vindication for many intelligence officials who have been repeatedly investigated and criticized for their involvement in a program that involved the harshest interrogation methods in U.S. history.

"We got beat up for it, but those efforts led to this great day," said Marty Martin, a retired CIA officer who for years led the hunt for bin Laden.

Mohammed did not reveal the names while being subjected to the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding, former officials said. He identified them many months later under standard interrogation, they said, leaving it once again up for debate as to whether the harsh technique was a valuable tool or an unnecessarily violent tactic.

As for Huffington’s wonderful source citation, journalistic work, we have the following declaration which says it all:

Then in the middle of last year, the courier had a telephone conversation with someone who was being monitored by U.S. intelligence, according to an American official, who like others interviewed for this story spoke only on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive operation.

Story continues below

I am going to place one of my famous bets again. I bet you no one will ever go after these particular anonymous sources from our intelligence agencies. You see, they are disclosing what they are told to disclose, and it wouldn’t make the tiniest difference how classified or sensitive the intentionally leaked information is. When the government has a PR mission and a polished script to go with it, releasing all sorts of ‘classified or sensitive’ intelligence is kosher. But may God help those who release information classified to cover up government criminality such as NSA illegal wiretapping.

Please go and read this Clancy-Like novella chapter at Huffington Post. Pay special attention to anonymous sourcing and glorified kidnap-torture methods meant to program unknowing Americans: Torture, assassination, illegal operations are all good when the end justifies the means. Hail to President Bush for starting those programs, and hail to President Obama for continuing them!!

  1. Ah., blessed anonymity……here we have a totally ONE source story. No independent corroboration will EVER shine a light into this psy[cl]ops. Body gone. At SEA. Like a seal. like the steel from the towers. Disappeared before peer review. Newspapers where I live totally without question produce comic book images of weaponry, uniform, arrows. Pointing. drawings of masked men with guns and a hero badge on their faces.. Interviews with ‘ex-seals’ now doing all kinds of benevolent orphan work with every possible emotional trigger point the supine radio interviewer could ever hope to imagine confirming the greatness of Amercian exceptionalism, squirming in their seats to relate the UNCORROBORATED one source heroic actions of the closed assassination of the key participant in the key modern drama of our TIME.

And not one question asked by our media .
    Not ONE.

  2. You would have to say, that makes it a very successful operation either way.

  3. I’m wondering who’s going to write the first book saying that the govt. is lying on this :)?

Seriously, in a sense this is an extension of the Wikileaks megahype that presented lots of evidence. All of this is in front of the public, and what’s happened? Nothing.

Not to come down on one person specifically. But in general, why is that?

Are many people now running out of places to hide? They can’t say anymore that this is out-of-sight-out-of-mind? Is anyone buying MSM newspapers or magazines anymore? To me, there’s no point anymore in that.

Obama’s mega rock-star status is finally gone. Next question. What could Obama gain from faking this?

    Re-election in 2012.
Perpetual wars and funding for them.
The widest possible legal interpretation of “terrorist”.

I’ve been following this online worldwide all day. In North America, not one outlet has publically questioned it. Now, elsewhere many are openly questioning it and laughing at Obama. However, no other major world leader will dare to openly question Obama’s handling of this.

Now, keep this in mind. If the NSA reads this and red flags it to Obama and then he decides that I’m a terrorist, what could happen?

The govt. could subpoena Sibel or whoever manages this site for her to get my IP adrress. If I then went abroad, I could legally be killed by the JSOC.

No investigation. No trial. No presumed innocent until proven guilty. Just hunted down and killed. Nobody would know and nobody would be prosecuted because it’s “classified”.

The President who’s an attorney thinks this is perfectly ok. Nobody in the MSM will dare to actually do their job and question Obama on this because they’d get fired for being “unpatriotic”.

Look at the now world famous photo of Obama and his staff watching this Bin Laden killing. Has any part of that been Photoshopped?

  4. “Karl Rove said ” We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality.” And while you’re studying that reality-judiciously, as you will- we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors… and you, all of you, will be left to study what we do.””

  5. @Remo: Such an appropriate quote, then again, you always come up with those!:-)

  6. Bill Bergman says:

Is anonymous sourcing ALWAYS bad? Maybe not. Depends on what shoe fits, perhaps, or something like that? Just trying to think it out.

  7. lightviperr says:

If leaks are in favor of the narrative and it supports the strategic interest it is allowed. Polarization then is used to reinforce the respective narrative on both sides of the spectrum depending on which side supports that narrative.

  8. Bill Bergman says:

There are times when anonymous ‘leaks’ can be good or bad, depending on one’s immediate interests and beliefs? But should ‘leaks’ have a presumption of innocence, in general? Too late in the evening to try to offer a reasoned opinion, legal or otherwise. But more basically — who gets to decide what is ‘secret’ or not? Are they working for all of us, or a select few? One resource on this score, which points to how corruption rather than the ‘common good’ can move the needle in real life, and one that matters in Sibel’s case, is

  9. This is the kickoff to Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign. It’s totally Hollywood. The steely-eyed Commander in Chief gets his man. Obama’s sagging poll ratings needed a boost. Bush sends his congratulations. 9/11 boosted his sagging poll numbers back in 2001.

  10. A general doctrine of state secrecy means the executive can lie to us any way they want. They can say whatever they want and there is no way to check on it. Government officials tell us what happened and “journalists” regurgitate it. Remember the Ring of Gyges in Plato’s Republic, which renders anyone who puts it on invisible, so that he can steal anything, commit any injustice undetected? That is the nature of the State Secrets Act. Our rulers possess the Ring, the One Ring to rule them all and in the darkness bind them, as it is said in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings myth. It is a great power, the power to make up reality, to fabricate wars, to control the minds of masses of people.

  11. Spot on squire. No more accurate map of our geo-political situation exists than Tolkiens’ work of “fantasy.” What etheric sources he drew upon to gain such an amazingly clear vision of the future of westI can’t say, but it’s revelatory power is witnessed by each passing day.

One small example may suffice: orcs, the ghoulish issue of captured “Elves” tortured till the death of their souls-then crossbred to a hellish race. That ghoul in charge of the murder of civilian passengers aboard the Mavi Marmara one year ago is a China born zionist assassin taken from the womb of a White Russian refugee reduced to beggary and prostitution by the bolshevik terror, bred to one of theirs, then raised to encapsulate the values of cabbalistic war on humanity. Truly frightening, what is done in the name of ïsrahell.

On the bright side, our diminutive heroine has been tasked with the destruction of the dark power; her progress back towards the land of doom, and fulfillment of prophecy may be slow, but is as hearteningly inevitable as the descent into madness and bloodlust of Mr. Gordon Duff,(the Golum-golem of our day)is tragic and foretold. Let us hope she has her Sam close by.

It’s the Roves and Obamas of this world who are the true fantasists. Their “reality” is soon to crash and burn.

  12. wilwon3 says:

No-one has brought up the name of Cass Sunstein, the brilliant lawyer who was brought in to the administration to deflect/silence Obama’s critics and who had co-written an article expressing disapproval of tactics/ arguments by the so-called ‘911 truthers’. For the past few days, the ‘official’ story has been stumbling a bit. Is it possible that the reelection team is so anxious to deflect criticism, that they went with this story to institute a sort of paradigm shift? They don’t seem to have thought things out very well as the story will only fly if no-one is allowed to have access to classified documents. The sensibilities of the muslims in many parts of the Middle East, including Pakistan, will be a continuing issue. I read where S E’s ‘friend’ Marc Grossman was recently assigned the task of informing the Turkish leadership of the Obama administration’s arguments regarding this news story; is this going to be the subject for a future article?
