Coming Up Soon: Boiling Frogs Video

Boiling Frogs Post Site Update & Upcoming Subscription Program

bfpvideoWe have a few updates on Boiling Frogs Post and our soon to be launched subscription program.

I am excited to announce our upcoming Boiling Frogs Video series to be produced by our new partner James Corbett, an independent journalist who has been living and working in Japan since 2004. He has been writing and producing The Corbett Report, an online multi-media news and information source, since 2007. His forthcoming book, Reportage: Essays on the New World Order, will be available for purchase later this year. You can check out his website here. James is working on our first episode which will be coming up next week.

Meanwhile, here is one of my favorite episodes from Corbett Report:

As some of you may recall, immediately at the end of our March 2011 fundraising campaign I asked for your input on keeping this site alive and expanding it further. I do want to continue and expand, and for that I need to be able to afford spending the needed time. I certainly want to bring to you weekly podcast interviews on crucial topics; without advertisements or manipulating foundation sponsors. I also want to incorporate professional and truly independent video presentations on our topics and issues of interest and related developments. How do I go about doing all this yet completely stay away from corporate advertisements and agenda-driven foundation grants?

The answer is simple: only through our readers and listeners’ direct support. We can’t go on complaining about the corporate media and agenda and partisanship driven quasi-alternatives when we refuse to support the ones like this site and others that try to be what we want: independent, nonpartisan, uncompromising, bold and factual. Isn’t it true?

In the next few weeks we’ll transition to a new paid subscription model for our exclusive and independent weekly podcast and video broadcast. We are also planning to add an exclusive forum for our subscribers, and publish topics of interest for discussion. I like to think of our supporters as our irate minority club members rather than subscribers. Our regular site will continue with our usual articles, commentaries, editorial cartoons and regular updates, while our podcast, video, and forum will be open to those who are willing to support this site and the work it takes to sustain it. Those of you who have donated $50 or more, and those who have signed up with recurring monthly donations to our site since January 2011, will be given an automatic subscription for one year.

And finally, some of you may have noticed the recent disruption to our site registration for comments. Our site has been under continuous vicious attacks for almost two weeks. We have addressed the problem and are in the process of adding additional preventive measures. Thank you for your patience.

This site depends exclusively on readers’ support. Please help us continue by contributing directly and or purchasing Boiling Frogs showcased products.

A salient point I’ve heard made by Mr. Corbett is that we should listen attentively to what the political elites are saying because quite often their plans and motives are stated openly i.e. PNAC. I also thought some of his ideas on new media tipping the balance towards the people’s side were spot on and refreshing.

  2. I’m optomistic about the subscription move and hope it allows you to expand the site. Sorry to hear the site is being attacked.

BTW, I’ve noticed that I can’t see the dashboard anymore, but thought maybe it had something to do with editing my screen name from ZicaTanka back to Zica. Anyone else having the same trouble? (KF, I already checked and it wasn’t the illuminati.)

Corbett had a recent show about BitCoins. Any chance you’ll offer a paid-by-bitcoin subscription sometime in the future? Sounds interesting – looks like you could use them to purchase hosting services and other tech stuff. I’m going to read more about it…

  3. @lightviperr: Thanks. Another great side of Corbett: totally nonpartisan-independent. After watching a couple of clips I was hooked. I’m really looking forward to his upcoming videos.

@Zica: I totally need your optimism and encouragement. As you know, I’ve been mostly hearing lines like: ‘oh, without ads, without grants, for get it!’ So thank you.

  4. Here is the latest video at Corbett Report on Bilderberg: http://www.corbettreport.com/sunday-update-20110605/ Nicely done!

Subscription model? I’m all in. I’ll work on recruiting other subscribers. Don’t put down your torch, Sibel.

  6. @HAL: Thank you; I’m counting on you and all our Irate members:-)

  7. You and James Corbett collaboration. Wonderful.totally POSITIVE.

  8. Sibel,
This may be off subject, but is this site incorporated? If not you could apply for a non profit status through the IRS (use to take 2 years to be approved, but the process has been accelerated to a 1 year waiting period). And in the meantime you could have the site incorporated as for a profit company as a subsidiary to the non profit. This would give you the benefits of receiving deductible contributions (to the benefactors) trough the non profit. Even during the 1 year waiting period the contributions are deductible. Just a suggestion. If you are interested please consult with a tax lawyer.

  9. @Zell: Thank you for the suggestion. I am very weary of 501(C)(3) status-one more way for the gov to set rules and create boundaries. Right now it is me: no companies-corporations, no foundations, no strings, no board of advisors…and that my friend, gives me the freedom, and of course those darn taxes to deal with:-)

  10. Typo: wary; not weary. Thanks, Will. Now back to mama-hood.

  11. manofhope says:

By my math, in the last 21 months, I have supported this site to the tune of $146.00 by purchasing books profiled by and through BF. Now I will be unable to even listen to the podcast? No, the name I used to sign up/register isn’t my real name, and yes I am running through A proxy for my ISP, and if me being able to listen to the podcast or watch the videos means I’ll have to disclose my personal information (even through paypal) or lose my right to remain anonymous and enjoy my rights to some level of privacy, then continuing to be a member of the “irate minority” is over.

I still enjoy your work Sibel and think your hot as a fire cracker on the 4th of july , but charging for membership is about as terrible as it gets, and is on par with a Robert Murdoch idea.

  12. @manofhope: I think you have insulted everyone with the name Robert. What is your recommendation 4 funding this site?

  13. Bill Bergman says:

Typos are NOT UNIQUE to mama-hood. But they can be more likely to people who really care, even tho (or because) they really care, speaking from experience. There are a lot of ‘sophisticated’ academic economics papers free of typos, but full of bullshit. If Sibel was Braveheart — well, that’s a good metaphor. Sibel IS Braveheart. Librarians are some of the best people we have, but we need Bravehearts.

  14. arealjeffersonian says:

manofhope: First, I have the same question as Zica, how would you fund this site?

As to your support by purchasing $146 in books, while I’m sure Sibel appreciates all support, how much do you think the site made from your purchases? – I believe the commission rate for books is usually around 5% or less – at 5% your support for 21 months of excellent, non-partisan podcasts (45 of them) comes to around $7 – or about 16 cents per podcast, or about 35 cents per month. So you expect Sibel, who with her backgound and ability could easily knock down a six figure salary, to forgo that so you can access her quality audio & video podcasts for 35 cents per month?

Sibel has said that she will not go the advertising route, nor the organizational funding route, both positions I understand and applaud, so how else but thru subscriptions can she possibly continue to operate this site? Would you rather she shut it down?

And, your comment comparing charging for membership in this site to Murdoch is about as asinine as it gets.

  15. manofhope says:

Listen chumps, at the end of every single article, podcast etc this is posted

“This site depends exclusively on readers’ support. Please help us continue by contributing directly and or purchasing Boiling Frogs showcased products.”

I did purchase the books to help the site as requested by Sibel, and according to you it means nothing at all? Well screw you all then !!

And for the record, charging for content IS the EXACT same thing Murdoch wanted to do, and by Sibel doing so, shes puts herself on par with Murdoch. ( or lower as she actually WILL charge for content)

but I guess you brown-nosers will try to make it out that HER content is different, and thus fine to charge for. Well I wont defend it at all, and no matter what scheme she comes up with or how much she pleads I won’t give her my personal information. Ya’ll can type your name, address, credit card info in to this site all you want, but I’LL keep my privacy and personal info safe.

How sad it has become that Sibel would ask , no demand her followers pay for a podcast.

  16. Keep it safe, manofhope. Good idea.

  17. @Zica: We have people like that, and their logicless logic (he wouldn’t mind paying $140+ with his CC & name & Address online for books, and he doesn’t mind authors charging for their books instead of writing online for free…). Anyway, so long to him.

@ Jeffersonian: You made many of my own points. Currently, for my part-time project I receive $150/hr. Granted with so many other things in my life (including this site) I am not able to work more than 15 hours a week (nights, weekends), and have to pay for private family insurance. Also, this very insulting man, has the same disregard/disrespect for people such as Peter B Collins who also have to juggle several jobs and make living. These jerks think online activity is solely for those with no responsibilities, no jobs…maybe a bunch of 20 years old sitting in their parents’ basement and typing it away for hobby….Unfortunately this guy is not alone. He should refrain from paying for movies (why not get it from the pirates?! All free! No?! After all, they are made by the Hollywood’s rich…), or books (hey, why not get it free from criminals who scan and disseminate it?!) or magazines…or… Pretty petty mentality, and not the kind we want here. So long.

  18. Bill Bergman says:

In Corbett’s words, including how to explain ‘seeming paradoxes’ — he has a wonderful ‘What happens if the criminals are in charge of the cameras?’ Perhaps the same thing that happens when the criminals are in charge of central banking, bank regulation, and ‘defense’ industries? Most of us are at the end of the food chain. It is time to start taking care of ourselves, if it wasn’t already.

  19. HAL 9000 says:

    SIbel,

manofhope’s comments notwithstanding, I will gladly pay for the information, insights, and interviews you provide, just as I would pay for a good newsletter, magazine or newspaper (if one existed). 9/11 woke me from my sleep. I opened my eyes to find myself in a new reality, where all my assumptions about our government and all the indoctrination I accepted about American Exceptionalism vanished. It was liberating, infuriating, and depressing, all at the same time. I am not proud of the gullibility I displayed during most of my adult life, but that life is over. I am on a path to truth, and your website is a cherished beacon of light on my journey through the darkness. It is a laborious process to figure out who can be trusted to speak truth and who is trying to deceive. You are one of the few who fully understands the dark forces we face and how they operate. Please do not be dismayed by the comments of people like manofhope.

Ring the bells that still can ring.
    Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack, a crack in everything.
That’s how the light gets in.

  20. Empathy says:

I am quickly becoming a fan of the Corbett Report (as well as you, Sibel). This is a welcome collaboration.

  21. @Empathy & HAL9000: Thank you for your encouragement, and kind words! So very needed.

  22. @Bill: Priceless, isn’t it? Over here, the criminal are in charge of the government; being criminal prerequisite for being electable…no?;-)
