Empire, Power, and People with Andrew Gavin Marshall- Episode 35

The Institutions of Imperial Domination

EPPIn understanding empire, we must understand the institutions which direct and implement the process of imperialism. Starting with the central institution of imperialism - the State - we find its history as emerging in response to economic inequality, to preserve for the few at the expense of the many. The results of this development, as history has shown, have shaped human civilizations over the past several thousand years, and most especially, the past few hundred years. Along with the state, banks, central banks, corporations, think tanks, foundations and NGOs all serve important functions in an imperial system. Together, they form a complex yet comprehensible imperial system of domination which we must better understand if we hope to challenge it and make it obsolete.

  1. Another good podcast, Mr. Marshall! Thanks!

I would like to draw people’s attention to a Boiling Frogs podcast from January 20 of this year:

    Podcast Show #73
    Friday, 20. January 2012
The Boiling Frogs Presents Shahid Buttar

    http://www.boilingfrogspost.com/2012/01/20/podcast-show-73/

Listening to Mr. Buttar again was refreshing and timely. He offers an optimistic voice in a time when challenging the police state is becoming more and more hopeless. I would like to hear another podcast with him soon! (I wonder if has a read/reviewed Classified Woman.)
