De-Manufacturing Consent- Counterinsurgency Wars: From Gaza to Ferguson

Guillermo Jimenez Presents Kevin Gosztola

On this edition of De-Manufacturing Consent: Guillermo is joined by Kevin Gosztola, independent journalist, writer, and co-author of the book Truth and Consequences: The US vs. Private Manning. We discuss the ongoing situation in Ferguson, Missouri, the killing of Michael Brown, and the problems in police accountability and incremental police militarization that have led to this disastrous scenario

We also go over the counterinsurgency and paramilitary tactics employed by police in Ferguson, and throughout the United States, and the similarities in how occupying forces act in places like Gaza. Lastly, we touch on the role of the media, both in the way events have been covered and how police forces in Ferguson have deliberately targeted journalists to suppress information.

  1. I’m totally against the current militarization of the police-force, but apparently Michael Brown brought all of this upon himself when he attacked the police officer and beat him up pretty badly.

  2. Officer Darren Wilson Suffered “Orbital Blowout Fracture to Eye Socket” During Mike Brown Attack

  3. Castillonis says:

Another provocation in Ferguson reported by TruthDig. It happens at about 1 minute and 20 seconds. He must have wanted to die, but there has to be a better way of dealing with this.

  4. kariflack says:

Captain Johnson has been increasingly called Captain Go Fuck Yourself on twitter by people who aren’t idiots. why does Gosztola ignore this and so much of what people have witnessed on the ground via the livestreams? is he going to urge us to vote Rand Paul next? disappointing.
