Thursday, July 28, 2016

Newsbud Inc, Bend, Oregon

As the attempted coup in Turkey was taking place on July 15, 2016, a report began to circulate widely that Turkey’s President Erdogan had fled the country by air and was requesting asylum in Germany.  NBC News was cited as the source of this report.  A tweet from MSNBC Segment Producer, Kyle Griffin, has also been cited in many articles.  Griffin’s tweet, now deleted, stated, “senior US military source tells NBC News that Erdogan, refused landing rights in Istanbul, is reported to be seeking asylum in Germany.”

This false report was presented as factual, and was cited and re-reported by many media outlets, despite being proven false within a couple of hours of NBC’s initial report (At the time of the report President Erdogan was in Turkey- preparing his press conference in Istanbul).

On July 21, 2016, Newsbud began a campaign to demand a public explanation and retraction of this report from NBC News. Tens of thousands of concerned people have also requested a response and explanation from NBC News. Further, on Monday, July 25, 2016, the Turkish Embassy in Washington D.C. officially demanded a public response and apology from NBC News.  To date, there has been no public response from NBC News.

As a result, Newsbud will demand this explanation and retraction in person at NBC News Headquarters in New York City, Thursday, August 4th, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. (ET).  Afterwards, Newsbud founder Sibel Edmonds will make a statement outside NBC News headquarters and take questions from members of the press, independent journalists, and concerned activists.

This is a call to all supporters of Newsbud’s #Confront NBC campaign, and to all concerned people and journalists who expect ethical journalism and integrity from the media, to join us.  We will be gathering with all participants at 12:00 p.m. ET, Thursday, August 4, 2016, in front of NBC HQ in New York City at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

For all media inquiries contact Sibel Edmonds: pr@newsbud.com

  1. Um, this is the second time the date has been changed. Stick to a date and time. Is this going to be the final decided date? It doesn’t matter for me personally as I will not be going, but others might want a solid date they can depend on.

  2. Natalie Clark says:

NBC strikes again. This time it’s the supposed Russian hack on the DNC. NBC article “Hack of Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee ‘Similar’ to DNC Breach by JOSH MEYER, ALEX MOE and TRACY CONNOR” says a “senior” level official says “As NBC News reported this week, senior U.S. national security officials are confident that Russian intelligence agencies hacked the DNC but have not determined if those agencies gave the material to WikiLeaks for the pre-convention email release”. Now The head of Intelligence Clapper has made a press release “US intel head calls for end to ‘hyperventilation’ over Russia’s alleged role in DNC hack”. So NBC is doing someone’s bidding/propaganda through unsubstantiated reporting.

  3. Language NBC would understand is being embarassed by their competitors. Have their MSM competitors been sent the story? ie. ABC, CBS, CNN, FoxNews.

They might like to run it, and if they don’t, then we know how small their cajones are too.

  4. Cool, I’m in NYC during this. I will come out to support. See you there, Sibel!

    • Looking forward to finally meeting you in person, John. We are leaving tomorrow morning (Bend, OR), 14+ hours later in NYC (Past Midnight), the event on Thursday, and will turn around and leave early Friday. We’ll be there on Thursday, around 11:45 am ET. Anyone else from BFP-Newsbud who’ll be joining us?

      • Quite a brutal itinerary! Looking forward to meeting you as well. Travel safely. Not sure exactly where at 30 Rock to go but as I recall there’s a fairly prominent NBC HQ sign at one of the corners — am assuming we’ll gather outside the building. Will probably be obvious once I’m there.

  5. I’m sure we will have proper updates here very soon — but I can tell you that it went really well and Sibel did an amazing job working every camera in sight, keeping her cool on a hot day, and delivering a clear, important message very effectively. Congrats Sibel, you are a warrior! A pleasure to finally meet you in person.

Congrats Sibel on what appears to have been a job very well done!
I’ve seen some of the footage that Spiro was recording and it looks excellent.
I know how difficult it is to pull something like this off, especially on such short notice
    and with a tight budget.

    Round one:
    +1 Newsbud 0 MSM

I was at JFK the day before in transit. Too bad I didn’t have spare time to attend.

  8. Um, I guess this is stating the obvious, but there needs to be feedback sooner on this thing. Even if it is short and crude. What was the result?

Agreed, I haven’t been able to locate any follow up report on the site, since the event. I’ve been wondering whether my browser is having a problem. Haven’t found any reports elsewhere either.

    • Ribbit-Mark says:

I am sure Sibel will posting very soon about the event.
She still must be quite tired from the long flight connections to and from the New York.
I finally made it through Sipro’s excellent video of the assembly in front of NBC headquarters.
For anyone wanting to catch the climax of the event, check this link out at around 1:05.

I was extremely impressed with the strong message Sibel sent to NBC, the MSM and the rest of the world, letting them know that by failing to offer a retraction and explanation for their false reporting the day of the attempted Turkish coup, NBC must by default be held as an accomplice to the terrorist acts that took place on that day. And further, can legitimately be addressed as a terrorist organization going forward.

      • tallsexyblonde says:

I imagine so. Thanks for the link – I hadn’t know about it and found no other reports anywhere that this was actually taking place, which is why I was left scratching my head.
Congratulations to Sibel & team for your courageous performance out there.
