Pentagon Revs Up Regime Change Meatgrinder in Asia

The ISIS campaign of murder in Asia continued last week.  But the rise of ISIS, the jihadi threat the West loves to hate, but can’t seem to stamp out, masked an equally important phenomenon: the return of the US military to a leading role in the business of security, chaos, and bodycounts as Trump turns to the Pentagon to roll back the gains China made in Asia during the Obama years.  That means new policies and new dangers for Thailand, Burma, the South China Sea, and the Philippines.

I honestly look forward to China Watch every week. I realized I’ve never left a comment on Newsbud before, which means it’s long overdue for me to say thank you for the work that goes into bringing us weekly updates. Thank you for what you do, ten times over 🙂

Just a quick note to my China Watch piece. AMTI, a.k.a. South China Sea Tensions Central, cranked the leierkasten (German term: google it!) concerning oil rigs in the SCS https://amti.csis.org/tensions-bubble-china-vietnam/ but fessed up the visiting oil rig not in Vietnam’s patch. So there was an oil rig in the vicinity after all. So, honest mistake by VN media or headline injection? I dunno. All in all, pretty clear the Western press hyping the VN/PRC conflict narrative, but contra Carlyle Thayer no conflict yet amirite? US China hawks want US to ditch Obama admin lawfare position that US takes no position on Senkaku/SCS island sovereignty questions, move to “we’re backing our allies, liberal international order be d*amned”. I tweeted I’m starting an Obama Asia Lawfare Deadpool and I’m taking 5 weeks for the hawks to move to the post liberal international order to an unapologetic f*ck you China position. We’ll see! And thanks Janiece, for your kind thoughts. Appreciate your input, and thanks for keeping the newsbud juggernaut rolling! Please keep watching and tell your friends their lives are empty w/o a newsbud subscription! Best
    Peter
