  1. Jon L Curran says:

The prosecution would have to explain this well enough to a grand jury and then to a trial jury. So far it is way too convoluted for me to follow.

  2. Thanks Sibel. There are so many complex moves going on in so many places, very, very difficult to understand, let alone make sense of it all. You are uniquely qualified to understand and comment on these matters and I greatly appreciate what you have put together in this report. James has been doing a great job of pulling pieces together in the Saudi arena as well. It boggles the mind – but I am glad people in those areas have been reporting in Newsbud and the Corbett Report. This is a very long way from MSM – thankfully.

  3. at one time i recall us tolerated turkey gold/oil swaps w/ Iran while coop on Syria was OK. Maybe now time to drop the hammer since Erdogan sidling toward Russia https://www.reuters.com/article/us-iran-turkey-sanctions/exclusive-turkey-iran-gold-trade-wiped-out-by-new-u-s-sanctions-idUSBRE91F01F20130216

based on bnp precedent, us gov penalties for sanctions-violating banks that didn’t bend knee & cooperate is equal to total value of violations.

which means Halkbank wud have to pay billions in penalties (which it might not be able to pay: its total equity is about $2.5 billion) or else be cut off from US/world banking system https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-10-23/turkish-banks-drop-as-regulators-deny-u-s-probe-possible-fines in which case there’ll be a run on the bank & it will go into receivership.

Maybe it would be worth millions for Erdogan to try to dodge a settlement that will cost billions or a financial crisis in Turkey. & maybe good way for US to get a working coup against Erdogan is increasing public dissatisfaction through…a financial crisis!

    Trying to be helpful!

OY VEY!! Dis iss zoooh complicated!!

  5. catherine ladd says:

This story brings to mind whistle blower financier Ronald Bernard, who stated that these type of sanctions were just ways for a select few at the top the make billions more, and even though they were portrayed as adversaries by news media, they are in fact all friends behind the scenes working to craft a story to be fed to the rest of the world.

  7. mark holmes says:

I can’t help thinking there might be more to this story: Maybe still not a missed opportunity to retitle it “Counting Coups”

  8. Joseph Harrington says:

Nice!! Truly won’t get the scoop anywhere else

  9. John Phillips says:

International politics…the veneer under which international business takes place.
    Excellent work Sibel!

  10. Very good work.
