Drone War: CIA Targets Russia in Syria

Evidence is beginning to emerge showing the recent massive drone attack on Russia’s Khmeimim Airbase in the Syrian province of Latakia and a similar attack on its maritime facility located in Tartus is the work of the CIA. Russia insists it is impossible to develop such drones in an improvised manner. They were developed and operated by experts with special skills acquired in countries that produce and apply systems with UAVs. Of particular interest is the fact a U.S. Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft was cruising for more than four hours over the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Syria at an altitude of 7,000 meters at the time of the attack. On January 11, Russian President Putin reversed previous remarks that implicated Turkey in the attack. He said the attack was aimed at destroying previous agreements with Turkey and Iran. Putin also said the Russians know where and when the drones were handed over to the attackers, how many of them there were, and how much they cost. The Russian president said the aerial vehicles were disguised as homemade, but this was belied by the high-tech components on the aircraft. While not explicitly stated, the Russian are certain who is responsible for providing the technology used in the failed attack. It was either US or Israeli intelligence, and most probably the CIA.
