Newsbud Exclusive- A Most Dangerous Man: Trump Makes John Bolton His National Security Adviser.

From the beginning of his presidential campaign, Donald Trump, who demonstrated his geopolitical naivety at every turn, sent mixed messages on foreign policy. He appointed H.R. McMaster—a career militarist, consummate insider, and member of the Council on Foreign Relations—as his National Security adviser.

The nationalist and populist “Make America Great Again” crowd that voted Trump into office complained about this appointment, viewing McMaster as a deep state operative put into place after their hero, Michael Flynn, was forced out after admitting he talked with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak and was subsequently prosecuted for lying to a highly politicalized FBI.

On March 22, after weeks of speculation, McMaster resigned his post and the Trump administration announced he will be replaced by John Bolton, the former recess appointed ambassador to the United Nations during the reign of George W. Bush.

The appointment sends a strong message, long suspected by many—the Donald Trump administration is owned by the neocons.

John Bolton is near the top of the neocon totem. He is a senior fellow at American Enterprise Institute (AEI). It is explicitly pro-Israel and played a leading role in the invasion of Iraq. A core group of neocons—Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Frederick Kagan and his wife Kimberly—are either members or were during the Bush years.

AEI was closely associated with the now-defunct Project for the New American Century, founded by William Kristol and Robert Kagan, who wrote the “appropriate goal of American foreign policy… is to preserve [American] hegemony as far into the future as possible. To achieve this goal, the United States needs a neo-Reaganite foreign policy of military supremacy and moral confidence.” John Bolton was a board member of Project for the New American Century.

Bolton is also the chairman of the Gatestone Institute, an offshoot of the neocon-dominated Hudson Institute. Gatestone is known for its virulent Islamophobia and functions as a clearing house for the ideological war against Islam, a neocon centerpiece. It contends Muslims want to impose Sharia law on America.

He is also a former adviser to the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), an organization that organizes foreign policy initiatives with the state of Israel and states it aims to “engage the American defense community about the role Israel can and does play in securing Western democratic interests in the Middle East… [and] improve awareness in the general public, as well as in the Jewish community of the importance of a strong American defense capability,” in other words, making sure US foreign policy centers on the defense of Israel. JINSA’s board of advisers is staffed with retired US military officers, many working as consultants to Northrup Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and General Dynamics. [READ MORE]
