Processing Distortion with Peter B. Collins: FBI Infiltrates Peaceful Activists, Again!

Peter B. Collins Presents Hendrik Voss

For many years, peaceful protesters have gathered each November at Fort Benning, Georgia to advocate for the closure of America’s torture academy, the School of the Americas (renamedWestern Hemisphere Institute for Security and Cooperation). Hendrik Voss explains that his organization, School of the Americas Watch, has accessed FBI documents showing that undercover operatives have infiltrated the group for at least 10 years on the pretext of potential violence. The files show that the infiltrators repeatedly reported that the activists “never exhibited a propensity for violence”, yet peaceful First Amendment activists continued to be monitored.

*Hendrik Voss is national organizer for School of the Americas Watch. Get details on the Fort Benning protests November 20-22 here.

The EyeOpener Report- Beyond Common Core: Education Over Indoctrination

The Paradigm of Education over Indoctrination

There is no one set method for education. Every child is different; each will learn in their own way, respond to challenges and tasks in different manners; benefit from different approaches and different levels of outside input and self-direction. But that is the real task of education; not teaching children to memorize names, dates and figures out of a textbook and regurgitate them on the test paper, but to understand who they are as individuals, what they can contribute to the world, and how to connect with those around them. There are classrooms around the world where these experiences are a core part of the education environment and the results these classrooms produce are as powerful as they are undeniable.

Find out more about the paradigm of education over indoctrination and the real solution to the problem of Common Core in this week's EyeOpener report with James Corbett.

The EyeOpener Report- Core of the Problem: The Real Agenda behind Common Core

Everything you have been told about Common Core is a lie. It is not a state initiative. It was not developed by educators. It is not going to better prepare students for college or real world applications. It is part of a century-long process of using the education system to mould students into more obedient workers and tax cattle. And it is promoted by billionaires with hidden agendas of their own.

Find out more about what Common Core really is and who is behind it in this week's EyeOpener Report with James Corbett.

Empire, Power, and People with Andrew Gavin Marshall- Episode 95

Understanding the Global Political Awakening

EPPZbigniew Brzezinski has - for years - articulated a concept of what he calls the "global political awakening," referring to the growing restlessness and political activism of the masses of mankind as representing the central challenge to global power structures. This episode goes over many of Brzezinski's speeches and writing on the global awakening, and analyzes his [elite] perspective, but also what that means from the other direction, that of the population of the world (the 'awakened' or 'awakening' masses).

What We Have Here is a Failure to Communicate

EPPAfter a recent visit to the United States, I was struck by the level of knowledge and disgust of young Americans I met had toward U.S. foreign policy and toward the concept of Empire. In a time at which the American empire is expanding its technological mayhem around the world, as financial markets have come to dominate nations and regions, and entire populations are punished into poverty and hunger for the benefit of gaining market "confidence," we have come to a critical point as a society and a species: we need to question the fundamental notions of how our society is ordered, and we must - as a moral necessity - oppose imperialism in all its forms. The elite communicate with one another through otherwise incomprehensible language, and have no means of communicating honestly or openly with the population. So we must communicate with one another, and we must organize an anti-imperial movement. The knowledge is there, the anger and frustrations are present, only the organizing and actions are needed.

Geopolitics with Ryan Dawson- Episode 6: The Real Causes of war Masked in Political Jingoism

Ryan Dawson Presents Marc Guttman

GPMarc Guttman, the editor of Why Peace, joins us today to discuss a wide variety of political issues contained in his book-Why Peace. From the Drug war in Columbia to the Cold War in Asia and all things in between, hear a compilation of first-hand accounts contained in Why Peace. This is an extraordinarily valuable resource for those of you concerned with social justice who have the time, energy, and desire to become more proactive. The real pain and suffering of war does not see its share of attention. The real causes of war are masked in political jingoism that is so thick, that in the buildup to war citizens opposed to it do so with fear that they could be subjected to violence themselves. We must get off this cycle of habitual mass murder and theft. Why-Peace edited by Marc Guttman is 608 pages of knowledge to dissolve war propaganda and hits on a deep emotional level the utter absurdity and ruthlessness of modern warfare.

RPLogo

Eric and David also critique American militarism and imperialism, particularly those who remain willfully ignorant as to what our "elected" leaders are doing in our name. One of the major themes of the conversation is how to organize resistance to all these forces; how to become leaders of a real movement for change that can exist outside the dominant two-party paradigm.

State’s Civilians Sponsored Terrorism- Terrorists ‘R’ Us?

State Sponsored Terrorism when the State is of the People

"A terrorist is someone who has a bomb but doesn't have an Air Force" - William Blum

terrorismIn our nation of ‘national security’, where everything is re-defined and justified by the notion of ‘fighting terrorism’, it would be only appropriate to revisit and examine the term ‘terrorism,’ and then go a few steps further and look into its implications.

Almost everyone thinks that they know what ‘terrorism’ is or what constitutes terrorism. There are hundreds of definitions for terrorism varied by cultural, sub-cultural, national, linguistic, political, historical, and numerous other interpretations, perceptions, factors and circumstances. I am going to use the general definition of terrorism under U.S. Law: Premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by sub-national groups or clandestine agents.

innocentsThere is another type of ‘terrorism’ with a slightly different definition which was not commonly used until recently, when our nation’s status changed to a ‘national security’ state: State Sponsored Terrorism. In general state sponsored terrorism refers to acts of terrorism conducted by a state against a foreign state or people. It can also refer to widespread acts of violence by a state against its own people. In February 2011 I wrote a commentary on the Supreme Court decision which upheld the broad application of a federal law making it a crime to provide “material support” to designated “foreign terrorist organizations” (FTOs), and I wrote: [Read more...]
