DisInfoWars with Tom Secker- How the Cold War became the War on Terror

This week I present a mini-documentary on the rise of the neocons in the 1970s and how they turned Cold War paranoia into War on Terror paranoia. I look at the people and organisations involved: Henry Jackson and the Coalition for a Democratic Majority, Richard Pipes and Team B, the reformed Committee on the Present Danger and how this all ties in with the Jerusalem Conference on International Terrorism in 1979. After the conference, once the neocons had regained control of the White House, the CIA fully committed to the new 'threat from international terrorism' and began cooking the books on the numbers. The mini-documentary rounds off by show how the legacy of the 1970s neocon network still exists, and persists in propagating the politics of paranoia.

Probable Cause with Sibel Edmonds: The Feds’ Coming War Against Homeschoolers

Welcome to our fourth episode of Probable Cause. Our topic for this episode is homeschooling. We will be discussing homeschooling as a major step towards independent and critical thinking, and of course, by doing so, challenging the system. I’ll be talking about how and why the government sees this ever-increasing trend, homeschooling, as a major threat, and various tactics and attack scenarios that will be implemented by the feds in its war against American homeschoolers. We will also identify various steps and activities that can be taken by homeschooler communities to preempt the coming federal government’s war against them.

As previously, I will be providing my take based on what I have been observing, through my own personal lens, reasoning and analyses, and will pose questions for you to consider. And as usual our next episode will be based on your reaction, critique, responses and questions posed in the comments section below.

Processing Distortion: “Exposing the Appalling Corruption, Cronyism & Cover-Ups at NSA”

Peter B. Collins Presents NSA Whistleblower William Binney & the Nation’s Journalist Tim Shorrock

NSA Whistleblower William Binney and journalist Tim Shorrock of The Nation joins us for an in-depth and riveting discussion on the illegal domestic surveillance, corruption, cronyism and cover-ups at NSA.

William Binney, who spent 35 years at National Security Agency and quit over illegal domestic surveillance, explains how inexperienced the outside contractors were in the process of spycraft, sounds a clear warning about the massive permanent collection of electronic communications, and much more. Tim Shorrock covers the profiteering by an array of well-connected defense contractors led by SAIC, the privatization of national security tasks that ballooned after 9/11, the revolving door history of top officials like Bill Black, who worked for SAIC right before he became #2 at NSA, and the role of director Michael Hayden in the promotion of Trailblazer and evading responsibility for its failure.

The Reality Principle -Episode 4

Recovery & Resistance: Sandy, Obama, and the Fight for Health Care

RPLogoThe past ten days have seen the utter devastation of Hurricane Sandy and the triumph of Barack Obama. From ignoring heavily affected poor and working class communities to framing Obama's victory as a triumph for democracy, the media has shown, once again, its subservience to power and complicity in the continued crimes of the ruling class. In this episode, I relay my own experiences after the storm as well as my interpretation and analysis of Obama's victory and the coming "Grand bargain". Also, I speak with Dr. Elizabeth Rosenthal of Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) about single-payer or Medicare for All demands.

Soothing the Beast: Saturday Night BFP-Jamiol Music, Episode 5

Curtis Mayfield

Soothing the Best

This week's music pick, Diamond in the Back, is from the incredible Curtis Mayfield. This song was remembered more for its "Gangsta Lean" line and it's cool funky rhythm. It was, however, an anthem for being thankful for what you've got. That said, if you had this come on on a summer night driving a convertible through the city, it was the absolutely coolest song to have flowing from your speakers. I have had that good fortune and it was the best.

There's not really a video with this song and that's a good thing. The focus should be on Mayfield's music. If you have a pair of ear phones, put them on, crank it up a little, close your eyes and take a ride tonight with Curtis Mayfield.

Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks

SoothingTheBeastFor our 4th music pick, we take it down a notch (well sorta). Soothing the Beast tonight is Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, each who have made beautiful music in their own right. Put them together as a husband/wife team and the result is some very sweet tunes with excellent vocals by Tedeschi and some serious guitar by Trucks. The song is Midnight in Harlem written by vocalist Mike Matteson and performed by Susan and Derek at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Toyota Park, Bridgeview, IL on June 26, 2010.
