JFK: Victim of the National Security State

Following the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, President Kennedy announced he would ban the testing of nuclear weapons. He called for an end to the Cold War and the removal of troops from South Vietnam. Kennedy also put an end to the Pentagon's plan to invade Cuba and refused to provide air support for the Bay of Pigs invasion. It was the last straw when he forced the resignation of Allen Dulles, the director of the CIA. The National Security State said Kennedy had to go. They said he was a threat to national security. Ignored by the corporate media and establishment historians is the distinct possibility a coup d’état was launched on November 22, 1963. The establishment continues to insist Kennedy was killed by the lone gunman Lee Harvey Oswald despite ample evidence to the contrary.

Processing Distortion with Peter B. Collins: Looking Back at Watergate

Peter B. Collins Presents Saint John Hunt

In this interview with the son of Watergate conspirator E. Howard Hunt, we get a new angle on the scandal that brought down Nixon. Howard Hunt was a CIA agent who participated in the Bay of Pigs fiasco and the JFK assassination, and was recruited for the “plumbers” crew that broke into the Watergate headquarters of the Democratic National Committee. In a new book, “Saint” focuses on his mother’s role as the bag woman who distributed “hush money” from Nixon’s allies and was killed in a mysterious plane crash in 1972. We get some interesting new insights and anecdotes on the state crimes against democracy linked to Watergate.

*Saint John Hunt’s new book is Dorothy: The Murder of E. Howard Hunt’s Wife—Watergate’s Darkest Secret. More information and links to his music recordings are here.

DisInfoWars with Tom Secker: Did Howard Hunt Help to Kill JFK?

Howard Hunt was a CIA operative, a Bay of Pigs veteran, a Watergate conspirator and spy novelist. He also confessed to his involvement in the assassination of JFK, implicating Lyndon Baines Johnson, Cord Meyer and others. However, aside from this one confession in 2003 he had always denied the rumors and theories, under oath to Congressional investigations, in interviews, even suing news outlets that alleged he was part of one of the highest profile crimes of the century. Even in his autobiography, which was published years after his supposed confession, he denies having anything to do with it. Was this just the CIA editing his book before publication, as we know they did, or is it something more complex?

In this episode I ask whether we should take Hunt's confession seriously. Why would Hunt admit in 2003, on tape no less, to his involvement in the JFK assassination, only to then completely deny it in his autobiography several years later? Indeed, why did he make a confession at all, having always denied it? If this is a false confession - or even a real one that is then contradicted and denied, then what is the reason, the purpose?

The EyeOpener Report- JFK + 50: Why It Still Matters

BFP Video50 years ago this month, the President of the United States had his head blown off in broad daylight. As is to be expected, there are those who will passionately argue that this event is of little historical significance. What is somewhat surprising is that those who argue thusly include some of the most respected academics and researchers of our era, yet the picture that emerges from the historical record is one fundamentally opposed to that painted by the critics who argue that his death was of no significance.

Processing Distortion: “Trailing the FBI’s Boston Bombing Investigation”

Peter B. Collins Presents Russ Baker

Investigative journalist Russ Baker details a newly published update on the investigation into the official investigation of the Boston Marathon Bombing and the May 22 FBI killing of a friend of one of the Boston suspects. Baker reviews the anomalies of the Boston storyline and compares it with the JFK assassination 50 years ago. He notes that there is little evidence to connect the Tsarnaev brothers to the shooting of the MIT campus policeman, and that the connection of Tamerlan Tsarnaev to a triple murder in in 2011 rests on his friend Ibragim Todashev, who was killed by an FBI agent during interrogation in Orlando. Todashev's girlfriend was detained on an immigration hold, and was deported in mid-October--she says in retaliation for comments she made to the media.

Russ Baker is an award-winning investigative reporter who has broken scores of major stories over the course of more than two decades in journalism. Her has written for The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, The Nation, The New York Times, The Washington Post and other publications, and has served as a contributing editor to the Columbia Journalism Review. Baker received a 2005 Deadline Club award for his exclusive reporting on George W. Bush’s military record. He is the author of Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, the Powerful Forces That Put It in the White House, and What Their Influence Means for America (Bloomsbury Press, 2009).
